Presentation Title:

Exploring the divergence and challenges in primary care: A comparative study between Japan and the World

Abstract

Primary care, traditionally the cornerstone of healthcare, has undergone rigorous scrutiny to establish its credibility. The sources of research funding and the institutional affiliations of investigators significantly influence academic publications, especially in the development of new therapies.

In clinical trials, the design and evaluation methods are meticulously crafted to ensure optimal outcomes and mitigate potential adverse effects. However, once a treatment reaches the post-marketing phase, these adverse effects can often remain overlooked, underreported, and unjustifiably accepted, raising concerns about the robustness of regulatory frameworks.

In Japan, primary care significantly deviates from the standard models prevalent in many other countries, both in terms of approach and implementation. This divergence prompts an investigation into the contributing factors and potential learnings. Evident examples of these unique practices are observed in the management of cancer treatment, gastric ulcers, and hormone-related therapies for women.

The distinctiveness extends to the management of diabetes, organ transplantation, anti-aging strategies, and caregiving practices. These areas present unique challenges and offer valuable insights for global healthcare systems. The investigation illuminates these pivotal issues, utilizing Japan as an illustrative case study, thereby instigating rigorous and essential discourse on the future trajectory of primary care.

The cardinal objectives encompass understanding the genesis of these issues, pinpointing necessary preventive measures, and formulating strategies to surmount obstacles impeding the broad adoption of efficacious and innovative primary care practices. The study contemplates the prospective evolution of primary care, considering the increasing complexity of healthcare needs. The research culminates in an appeal for collective action among all healthcare stakeholders to construct a more potent, resilient, and sustainable primary care infrastructure for th
