TSMU, Republic of TajikistanTitle: Simultaneous two-stage surgical treatment of the combined course of Chiari malformation and occlusive hydrocephalus: A clinical case
Abstract
Treatment of
patients with the simultaneous presence of Chiari malformation type I (MK I)
and hydrocephalus may include both one-stage and two-stage surgical
interventions. The article describes the one-stage two-stage surgical treatment
performed for the first time in the Republic of Tajikistan. The patient underwent surgery -
endoscopic thirdventriculocisternostomy (ETV) in
combination with decompressive suboccipital craniectomy, which was supplemented
by C1 laminectomy. The course of the postoperative period was smooth, without
complications. In recent
years, for the surgical treatment of patients with occlusive hydrocephalus,
preference is given to minimally invasive methods of treatment - ETV. The literature provides information
about the secondary nature of the development of MK 1 against the background of
existing hydrocephalus. In
this clinical case, progressive triventricular occlusive hydrocephalus leading
to the development of CM I in a woman was successfully resolved by one-stage
surgical treatment of endoscopic triventriculostomy and decompression of the
craniovertebral junction.
