Title: The role of desalination and contribution of hybrid solar desalination system in primary healthcare

Abstract

The general wellbeing of the human population is highly dependent on the quality, availability and accessibility of clean water. However, there is a global clean water shortage due to increased industrial activities, population explosion, flooding, and water pollution. This has tremendously increased water associated disease especially in developing and third world countries. One of the effective ways to improve primary healthcare is through adequate clean water supply which can be achieved through desalination. Hybrid solar desalination system was developed to provide clean water for households. The system has shown high efficiency and effectiveness in providing clean water of about 20L/m2.day. Increase in such systems can improve global clean water supply and reduce water related diseases and environmental degradation.
